Al-Halbousi and the manifestations of the Sunni representation crisis
In this article, Yahya Al-Kubaisi explores the ’Sunni representation crisis’ in Iraq, a concept he develops through the example of Mohammed Al-Halboosi, former Speaker of the Council of Representatives. This crisis, which emerged after the 2003 American invasion, according to him, originates from a deliberate political strategy by Shia actors aimed at weakening independent Sunni representatives in favour of subordinate political figures.
