Muslim women between control and agency

The condition of women across the Muslim world is often reduced to overly simplistic generalisations, vacillating between Orientalist narratives related to colonial and post-colonial legacies, and the instrumentalisation of Islam and ‘village Islam’, which replicates and reinforces the most oppressive features of patriarchal traditions.
