Established in May 2021, the European Institute for Studies on the Middle East and North Africa (EISMENA), previously known as the French Research Center on Iraq (CFRI) is a non-profit organisation based in Paris’s 13th arrondissement. As an independent think tank, its primary mission is to generate unbiased knowledge and make Middle Eastern and North African geopolitics accessible to a wider audience. The think tank seeks to offer a unique perspective through diverse initiatives. These include building comprehensive databases and interactive maps, establishing partnerships with various entities, organising conferences, seminars, political debates, conducting interviews with key actors and experts from the Middle East and everywhere in the world, training youth from the region aspiring to careers in different key fields, supporting emerging talent in both France and the Middle East, and producing policy analyses and in-depth research papers.
The Board Committee plays a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction and overall governance of the think tank. Composed of experts, scholars, and professionals with deep knowledge of the region, the committee is responsible for ensuring that the center adheres to its mission of producing impartial and high-quality research.
