Presentation of Dr. Adel Bakawan’s book and discussion on the future of the ANMO region. The discussion was made possible by the Association where a strong public was present to discuss their questions and visions of the ongoing dynamics of the MENA region. The sixth annual Middle East Peace and Security (MEPS) Forum took place on November 17–19, 2025, in Dohuk under the theme “Managed Chaos: The New Middle East?” Over the years, the Forum has grown into one of the region’s most important venues for dialogue and policy discussion. This year’s gathering brought together senior Iraqi, Kurdish, regional, and international leaders. This event took place on November 17-19, 2025, in Dohuk, Iraqi Kurdish Region.

Dr. Adel Bakawan was the sole speaker for this seminar on the topic of “A History of the Kurds Up to the Territorial Division.” The objective of this was to highlight the history of the Kurds in Syria, Turkey, Iraq, and Iran. This event took place on October 14th, 2025 in Paris, France.

Dr. Adel Bakawan was invited to this event to present his book, to meet the public and at the same time to have the opportunity to sign his book. The event took place on October 4-5th, 2025 in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, France.

Dr. Adel Bakawan was invited by the Iraqi and Kurdish government to cover the situation in Iraq in preparation of the legislative elections of November 2025. This event took place in October 2025 (for a month), in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdish Region.

Dr. Adel Bakawan was invited at a prestigious school, École Normale Supérieur (ENS) of Lyon to talk about his book. He was able to talk with students interested in the Middle East and who were curious to know more about the particularity of the region and why it is today the epicenter of regional and international tensions.  The event took place on September 24th, 2025, in Lyon, France.

EISMENA was invited to a conference at the FMES Institute. The objective was to talk about the ongoing situation in the Middle East while sharing their thoughts with Dr. Adel Bakawan on his book and analysis. This conference was particularly important as more than 300 people (from diverse and high profile backgrounds such as decision makers, military, diplomats, academics, students…) attended this event. The event took place on September 11, 2025, in Toulon, France.

This conference took place in Barcelona on the 7-9th of July 2025 on the topic of the Middle East. The objective was to have a discussion and presentation on the international interferences and their perceptions from the local population, on Palestine and more. Dr. Adel Bakawan was accompanied by Pierre Blanc and international experts to animate their panel discussions. 

The Interministerial Delegation for the Mediterranean, with the support of the Deutsches Orient-Institut organised a Franco-German Forum on the Mediterranean in Paris at l’Institut du Monde Arabe. This forum was built on the momentum of bringing together key stakeholders for an in-depth dialogue and a shared perspective on the challenges and opportunities in the Mediterranean. This event took place on May 13th, 2025, in Paris, France.
